About Jessica
Jessica spent her childhood in the ancient landscape of Fife, Scotland. The dramatic moorlands, coastline, and glen immersed Jessica in the wild beauty of nature that communicated readily with her.
And then her mother left. Jessica was hit by lightning and suffered from physical illness, which initiated a long journey within. During this time, she learnt to heal herself using divergent techniques from bodywork to Q'ero shamanism.
Today, Jessica's healing journey informs her art practice. “The Art of Self-Reflection: Peace Medicine” describes Jessica's method of mapping her internal and external landscape. The artist uses bodywork and shamanic techniques to find peace within, freeing her body to make performative gestures imbued with a profound presence. The resulting artworks hold space (allowing what is through nonjudgment) and physically shift a room's energy.
Jessica’s Bio
Jessica is a multi-disciplinary artist. Her art practice spans many decades, from childhood to motherhood and now as an elder. In 1992, Jessica attended St Martins Art College, London, where she studied Fine Art, and the London College of Communication in 2009, where she studied Fine Art Photography. Jessica has exhibited alongside contemporary artists, including Sarah Lucas, Vivienne Dick and David Shrigley. Jessica has two self-published books in the Arts Council England library and is collected and exhibited internationally.
